SUMMARY:ASFA Solidarity Session: A Licence to Sell Lettuce?
DESCRIPTION:This ASFA Solidarity Session is in response to the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) decision to increase regulation for P1052 Primary Production and Processing Requirements for Horticulture (berries\, leafy vegetables and melons)\, coming into effect in February 2025.\n\nThis Solidarity session calls on all market gardeners and horticulturalists to come together and help build a campaign against further regulatory burdens. Led by AFSA National Committee member and grower\, Eliza Cannon (Borrowed Ground Growers)\, we’ll spend this session delving into:\n\n– What are the changes to P1052 Primary Production and Processing Requirements for Horticulture – berries\, leafy vegetables and melons?\n– How will the changes impact smallholders?\n– Why AFSA is collectivising to campaign against the changes\n– How you can get involved in the Licence to Sell Lettuce campaign\n– A brief note on how food safety regulation is being addressed in the updated Peoples’ Food Plan.\n\nEliza will give a brief overview of the changes and their impacts\, followed by an open discussion that will form a solid foundation for the Licence to Sell Lettuce campaign to mobilise market gardeners across the country.\n\nWhile FFI takes every reasonable effort to ensure that information is correct at the time of publication\, we recommend that the individual confirm details with the event organiser\, as events can be subject to last minute changes.
