SUMMARY:Online workshop: food security and dignified access to good food
DESCRIPTION:Please note: While this online workshop is aimed at Wyndham residents\, this important discussion could provide inspiration and insight for Illawarra residents fighting food insecurity. \nWyndham residents experience high rates of food insecurity and food relief services are often stretched. Join experts\, colleagues and council staff to explore what actions can be taken to ensure all Wyndham residents enjoy affordable\, nutritious and culturally appropriate food. \nDr Rebecca Lindberg\, Research Fellow\, Deakin University\, will define food insecurity\, outline its implications for health\, and highlight populations who are at an increased risk. She will present principles and processes that are in line with the human right to food to help highlight how local governments\, and others\, can better respond to food insecurity in their local community. \nWe will also hear from Ian Fenton from Wyndham Park Community Centre about the food relief program at the centre and the food access challenges facing the Wyndham community. \nBookings are essential. \n\nWhile FFI takes every reasonable effort to ensure that information is correct at the time of publication\, we recommend that the individual confirm details with the event organiser\, as events can be subject to last minute changes.
