SUMMARY:Urban Agriculture Forum + CGA National Gathering
DESCRIPTION:The 4th National Urban Agriculture Forum (UAF)\, to be held from 17-19 November 2023\, in conjunction with Community Gardens Australia’s National Gathering\, explores the theme of nourishing cities. \nWe are proud to hold the UAF for the first time on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. In hosting at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern (Sydney)\, we are reminded that Australian cities and towns have always been\, and always will be\, Country. \nRedfern’s rich legacy as a centre of Aboriginal intellectual culture\, political leadership and activism provides a fertile ground for exploring how urban agriculture can honour Country and support Indigenous self-determination. \nHow can urban agriculture create more nourishing cities and towns and foster more socially and ecologically just urban environments? The Urban Agriculture Forum is an opportunity for policy makers\, practitioners and innovators to explore these questions\, while networking and exchanging knowledge about leading practice in the urban agriculture sector. \nJoin us as we explore the growing urban agriculture movement in Australia and beyond\, and the positive changes it is creating for community health\, wellbeing and sense of belonging. \nThe two conference days are Friday 17th November and Saturday 18th November\, with talks\, presentations and workshops planned across both days. Further information will be available on our website uaf.org.au as speakers are confirmed. \nOn Sunday 19th November we plan to offer tours to community gardens\, urban farms on the peri-urban fringe and other edible landscapes. Tickets for these tours will be available to book shortly. By following Sustain’s Humanitix page you will automatically be notified when these tickets are released. \nPlease note we may take photographs/video at our events\, please communicate if you are uncomfortable with that to a Sustain staff member/volunteer at the event you attend and we will respect your wishes. \nFollow our Humanitix account page for details on all of our upcoming events via link below or here. \nReview our privacy policy here. \nTicket prices between $102-$488.75 AUD.  \n  \nWhile FFI takes every reasonable effort to ensure that information is correct at the time of publication\, we recommend that the individual confirm details with the event organiser\, as events can be subject to last minute changes.

SUMMARY:Bokashi Composting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Bokashi composting allows you to compost all your meat\, bread\, dairy and cereals as well as fruit\, veg and paper. \nMost of us now have a FOGO bin\, which is great. But this is taking your compostable food waste away from your own garden. \nWith Bokashi\, you can be giving back to your garden and reaping the rewards with home grown veggies\, fruit and flowers. We will teach you how to make your own Bokashi. Bring a small container so you can take home a sample. \nWorkshop attendance is limited to one person per household every 2 years. Participants from the Wollongong LGA will receive a FREE Bokashi bucket.
