Seed Saving

Local Seed Networks are an excellent way to increase biodiversity of cultural plants by sharing seeds and plant stock among community members. This way people are encouraged to grow their own  produce such as fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers that are suitable for their local conditions  that may not be available from seed companies. Seed Saving is not only cost effective and easy. It is an important part of conserving the biodiversity of our food, the traditional varieties which are perfectly adapted to local conditions. Conserving the diversity of our food varieties is an essential strategy to ensure that our food system is resilient in the face of uncertain future climatic conditions.
