Permablitz the Gong Ten Year Anniversary Celebrations!
30 July 2022 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Figtree
It’s the ten year anniversary of Permablitz The Gong and they want to celebrate with you!
What started on International Permaculture Day way back in 2012, has since hosted 24 full Permablitzes, lots of half day Permabees, a bunch of workshops and events, and now going to have a party, permablitz style!
To celebrate, they are revisiting the site of Permablitz #13 at Alison and Andrew’s place in Figtree – a huge gorgeous bush block with vegie beds, chickens, and a massive Zone 5 bush zone, a rarity in urban designs.
What will this blitz focus on?
This Bee revisits the site of Blitz #13 and will be focused on:
- Building wicking beds to optimise water use and food production
- Building no-dig garden beds to build soil and provide edible abundance
- Putting in swales for effective water management on the site
- Working on the Zone 5 native bush area, including a workshop on local native plants
- And of course, Mulching!
At the end of the day there will be a party to celebrate 10 years of building edible gardens and community together!
What do you need?
Favourite garden tool, gloves, water bottle, covered shoes, reusable coffee cup, insect/sun/rain protection. Wheelbarrows are welcomed!
If you want to stay for the party please bring a plate – vegetarian/vegan to make it suitable for most dietary needs, and if it is gluten free, even better!
Limited to 60 people (not including young kids. Older teens and above are counted as adults). All working attendees will get a half day blitz credit.
As with all gatherings in these times, please do not attend if you are unwell or have any Covid symptoms.
To secure your spot at the next blitz, send your RSVP via email (permablitzthegong@gmail.com)
(including first and last names of any adults attending, and whether you have any dietary requirements or special skills)
