Stir it up!

Any questions?

Please do not hesitate to ask for more information. We will be happy to answer.

Stir it up’ is a community based program that trains volunteers to promote healthy eating and sharing good food in the local community.

Stir it up! volunteer peer educators receive training with a focus on healthy eating, practical food ideas, presentation skills, kitchen safety and food hygiene.

2020 marked 10 years since the first Stir it up! peer educators started to promote healthy eating in our communities. Over the last decade, peer educators have volunteered their time to complete over 590 activities. And they have spread healthy eating messages to over 11,900 community members. This is a huge achievement and we thank all the peer educators as well as partner organisations and trainers for doing such amazing work for the local community.

Stir it up! is now accepting requests from organisations to host Stir it up! activities again this year. The Stir it up! team are dedicated peer educators who can deliver cooking demonstrations, talks, stalls and cooking classes for your organisation or community groups. These can be one-off sessions or more depending on your organisation and community groups.

For more information or to book an activity, please contact Helen on helen@healthycities.org.au.

Stir it up! is coordinated by Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Health Promotion Service in partnership with Healthy Cities Illawarra. Find out more here
