As part of Urban Agriculture Month 2021, Food Fairness Illawarra is coordinating a range of workshops, open gardens and tours of urban farms, gardens and verges across the Illawarra during the month of April.

Urban Agriculture Month (UAM) is co-ordinated yearly by Sustain: The Australian Food Network, a think and do network connecting passionate people like you to build tangible change. Urban Agriculture Month encourages enthusiastic gardeners, activisits, farmers, researchers and consumers from around Australia come together to celebrate and promote urban agriculture as an important part of community resilience and well-being. Click here for more information

Green Connect Farm Tour (Adults)
Saturday 3rd April, 9:15-10:30am

On this 75-minute tour, you will explore our abundant market gardens where we grow our seasonal veggies and walk through our food forest that is producing fruit.

Thirroul Community Garden Open Day
Sunday 18th April, 10am-3pm

Join us for our annual open day, celebrating our community and learning about food. Live music, market stalls, home made soups and flatbreads, garden tours and workshops!

Albion Park Youth and Community Care Garden Open Day and Morning Tea
Tuesday 20th April, 10am-12pm

The APYCC garden is a place for the local community to meet and grow vegetables, herbs and flowers. Come and join us for a tour of our garden and morning tea.

Urban Farming on a Quarter Acre Block: Bulli
Sunday 25th April, 10:30-12:30

This quarter acre block in Bulli is all about establishing regenerative systems on a domestic scale: water tanks, irrigation systems, solar panels, vegetables, herbs, natives, a food forest, orchard, herbs, bees, compost, worm farms etc.

Creative Corners Community Garden Open Day, Austinmer

Hidden in plain site, this guerilla verge garden has evolved over 5 years, demonstrating basic permaculture principals to passerbys, and slowly enriching the soil and biodiversity of an abandoned railway corridor.
