Supporting independent local retailers

Local retailers allow you to shop within your community when buying directly from the producer isn’t possible or convenient. Independent food retailers such as grocers, bakers, butchers and fishmongers can purchase directly from local sources, and if the produce you buy from these stores isn’t produced locally – shopping independently still supports local small business, growing jobs and building economic prosperity in your community. Get to know your local food purveyors and ask for tips on how to choose sustainable and ethical produce as well as how to best cook what you buy.
